- After what has seemed like an endless amount of hints and tweets, Namco Bandai has finally unveiled the next entry in the Soulcalibur series. The company made an announcement at their "Level Up" press conference in Dubai. Hisaharu Tago took the stage to deliver the news. Namco Bandai has only shared a few details, such as an enhanced battle system. The title will take place 17 years later in the timeline and will star main character Patroklos.
Box ArtCharactersPatroklosis 177 cenimeters tall, has a B blood type, and was born September 13. We've also heard he's indifferent to unicorns and believes paper clips should be abolished for 'obvious reasons,' but we haven't confirmed that just yet. Regardless, he takes after his mom in terms of weapon preference, favoring a short sword, and will also use the Arcadia Shield.
Siegfriedis the main protagonist character in the Soul series and the most central character of the series. Along with Taki and Mitsurugi, he is one of a few characters that has been included in every game in the series, appearing in Soulcalibur and Soulcalibur II as the story's main villain, as well as appearing in Soulcalibur III and Soulcalibur IV as the main hero through out the series. Siegfried made his first appearance in Soul Edge and has returned for
Soulcalibur, Soulcalibur III, and Soulcalibur IV. He can also be seen in Soulcalibur II as an unlockable costume for his temporary alter-ego, Nightmare. The non-canon spin-off title Soulcalibur Legends was released in 2007 with Siegfried being the central character, and he has returned in Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny.
Nightmare is the main antagonist of the Soul series. He made his debut in Soulcalibur. He is the living incarnation of the cursed sword, Soul Edge, the objective of most other characters in the story.
Nightmare was originally created as the alter-ego of Siegfried Schtauffen, created when he got a hold of Soul Edge and was consumed by the sword's will, during which time he wore dark blue armor that earned him the nickname "the Azure Knight", and went by the name "Nightmare". Since Siegfried managed to free himself from the evil blade's influence, it has somehow formed an entirely new being, an avatar of darkness, instead of possessing a new host. This new being models himself after Siegfried during that time, wearing the azure armor and calling himself "Nightmare". This new Nightmare, like the original, uses a great blade in battle, though his moves are unique, differentiating him from his human predecessor.
Nightmare has been portrayed in the games as a violent and ruthless creature, constantly in search of souls to restore Soul Edge. He looks down on humans, considering them "pathetic", and has no mercy for others, even to those who serve him, as shown in his Tales of Souls path where he considers killing his loyal servant Tira. Nightmare's Tales of Souls also shows that he doesn't need to eat or drink to survive, as when other characters reach the Grand Labyrinth, they carry food and provisions, but Nightmare goes without.
Pyrrhais the daughter of Sophitia and Rothion Alexandra. She is also the older sister of Patroklos and the niece of Cassandra. In Soulcalibur IV, it is revealed that an cunning servant of the cursed sword named Tira has abducted Pyrrha, and she cannot live without the influence of Soul Edge. Sophitia goes off to be the servant of the evil sword in order to save her daughter. Her role in Soulcalibur V is unknown. According to Hisharu Tago, Pyrrha doesn't know she has a younger brother.
Mitsurugis a character in the Soul series of fighting games. Mitsurugi made his first appearance in Soul Edge and has returned for all four sequels: Soulcalibur, Soulcalibur II, Soulcalibur III, and Soulcalibur IV. He also appears in Soulcalibur Legends as a playable character and appears in the portable remake of Soulcalibur IV, Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny. He is also confirmed to appear in Soulcalibur V.
What lies in his soul is Strength.
Ivy is a character in the Soul series of fighting games. She appears in Soulcalibur, Soulcalibur II, Soulcalibur III, Soulcalibur Legends, Soulcalibur IV, and Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny. Since her first appearance, she has became one of the most recognizable and iconic characters in the franchise, mainly due to her incredibly voluptuous body and her penchant for extremely revealing clothing. It is revealed that she will be in Soul Calibur V.
Ivy is considered an "evil" character because of her Machiavellian philosophy, but her motivations are more in line with those of the "good" characters; she wishes to destroy Soul Edge, but will do so at any cost. So, she is considered to be neutral.

NightmareA couple of new details regarding Soul Calibur V have been released thanks to the game's director. According to Daishi Odashima, Siegfried Schtauffen's evil alter-ego, Nightmare, will be joining the cast of the next game. Siegfried has already been confirm for SCV.
Daishi-san also mentioned that the Soul Calibur development team will be outputting SCV on the SCIV environment for "balancing purposes". What this could mean is that stages from SCIV will be reused for the new game or perhaps there won't be any multi-tiered stages in SCV that's becoming common place in fighting games.
