Do Game Reviews Affect Game Sales ?

Lets say a huge gaming site like IGN or Gamespot gives a certain game a low/high score does it affect how well it sells ? Thanks.

hm...sometimes it does. Like I've seen a couple of people avoid a game because Gamespot gave it a low score (see Cross Edge)

However even if a game is given high scores, it may not sell well because it's too obscure and unknown (see Ico)
