Sent in a job application, and I have an interview in less than an hour for another job. I hope I can get them both. One is a summer job, and the other is a Fall semester job.

What subject are you applying for? And what would you be doing for it?

Prior to my first semester, I was apart of a two week metacognitive science program. I am applying to be an assistant for that program this coming summer. I would help the professor create the two week program for I guess six weeks or so, then for the two weeks of the program I would just help out and lead discussion groups with the students. I believe it's a total of eight weeks. So six for creating and testing, then two for the program itself. Considering I know the professor and I was in the program as a student last summer, I think I have a damn good shot at getting the job. It would certainly be a hell of a lot better than working a Wal-Mart this summer.

Then I took part in a metacognition class that extended the program, and I am hoping to be an assistant for that class as well. That would occur during this Fall's semester.

I'm not even sure that I know what metacognitive science is. But I hope you get it. If I get my desired position, I'll be teaching a class for the next two semesters. I don't think I made a fool out of myself in the interview, which is really all you can ask for, but we'll see if I actually get it; still waiting to see if I even get accepted into the graduate school program.

So physics is going absolutely horrible right now, and my professor somewhat screwed me out of an A for programming, so things are not really going that great for me. I kinda had a crisis last night and I seriously considered switching majors. I mean, I know it's petty to drop out for getting a B+ or an A-, but it just sucks. I was close, and now my GPA is gonna take a huge hit this semester and I am afraid it's gonna fuck me over in a few years.

You should have another year before your major becomes carved into stone, so I wouldn't worry about it until then. And seriously dude, tons of people would kill for those kind of grades. You're all good.

Congrats Hammer!

I am currently thinking about changing my major. I am not have the best of times with game design and it's going to get difficult in the semesters ahead. I feel like abandoning ship before it gets too bad.

Well, like I said, you don't necessarily have to make any firm decisions right now, but game design does seem like a rather specific major to choose. Any idea what you might switch to?

I was thinking animation, but they are giving me a hard time. A kid told me it's a major that is difficult to get jobs from, and it's "pretentious." He instead suggested Motion Picture Science, where I could take some animation courses, but I would mainly stay with the science of film and it looks a lot better since it's a science degree.
